Babies, children, families- these are the important things in life. Portraits at each stage of life are special and meaningful. A newborn baby changes almost before your eyes. A growing child passes through many stages. A family is different from year to year.
Portrait sessions are fun, relaxed, and unhurried to get the best expressions and most natural look for your photographs. Plan to spend up to two hours on your custom session. I work to capture the looks and expressions that you know and love. A portrait should be much more than a record of the physical likeness of a person. A successful portrait shows the person or people as they are at a moment in time. To do this well takes time. I will spend the time getting to know you and your child so that everyone will be relaxed and at their best. We will select an environment that is comfortable and natural to you. I can bring studio lights and a backdrop to your home, or we can go to a location of your choice. I’ll come to your home where everyone is comfortable and at ease for baby portraits. With toddlers, I like to allow them to be themselves outdoors where they can play and be involved with their surroundings. Your yard, a park, or the beach are all great locations for toddlers, older children, and family groups.
I recommend paying careful attention to clothing for your portrait session. Simple, un-fussy classic styles help emphasize the person as the center of interest. For infants, a diaper might be enough, or a classic white T-shirt. For adults, darker colors tend to be slimming. Solid colors, long sleeves, look best and help the faces stand out. Prints, stripes, logos, bright colors, and bare arms are distracting in photos. Remember, the goal is to capture the essence of the person, not the clothing! If more than one person is to be in the portrait, clothing should be coordinated, but not necessarily match exactly. Please let me know if you have any questions about clothing choices. We can discuss what to wear, and what to expect at the portrait session, and look at places in your home to display your finished portraits
Make-up should also be carefully considered. Neutral, natural looks are best; please avoid the glittery or sparkley look. Matte finishes photograph beautifully.
The portrait session is £200.
High School Seniors- have your yearbook photo done by the school photographer, then get portraits that are really you!
